The health visitors will normally want
to see your child regularly to assessing growth in the
first few months. There are also more formal checks to
assess your child's development at 8 weeks and 8 months.
They hold clinics on Monday 1.30pm - 3.00pm.
These clinics are really intended for well
babies. If your child has a problem that requires medical
attention, please book an appointment with one of the
doctors.
8 week check
One of the doctors will see your child
and do a full physical examination at the 8 week check.
This includes listening to the heart and checking for
congenital hip dislocation.
Your child will also have the chance to
receive his/her first immunisations at this stage, which
we highly recommend. Please see the section on immunisations
for further details.
8 month check
At the 8 month check the health visitor
will normally examine your child as necessary and perform
the hip check.
