Our Doctors

Dr Ivan Koppel PhD, MB BS, MMed Ed, MRCGP, FRCGP

Dr Koppel (PhD MB BS MMedEd FRCGP) joined the Practice in 1978 following the completion of his traineeship with the practice. One of his main interests in general practice is the management of diabetes and he was one of the first GPs in the country to establish a comprehensive Diabetic Clinic in primary care. His interest in multi-professional education has resulted in various teaching commitments over the years.

Dr Sarah Jarvis MA, BM BCh, DRCOG, FRCGP

Dr Jarvis (MA BMBCh DRCOG FRCGP) joined the practice in 1990. Her interest in women's health issues has seen the development of a range of services for women. As one of the practice GP Trainers she has a commitment to medical education and her interest in general practice has led to positions on various RCGP committees. She is the Women's Health spokesperson for the Royal College of GPs, and chairs the Healthcare section of HEART UK, the cholesterol charity. She works extensively for both lay and medical media, with a special interest in patient education.

Dr. Beverley McDonald, MB ChB, DCH, MRCGP

Dr McDonald (MB ChB DCH MRCGP) joined the practice in 1997. She established the minor surgery clinic shortly after joining the practice and continues to run this clinic.  She is particularly interested in depression and other mental health problems as well as paediatrics (child health).  She is also our lead on IUCD fitting, child protection and patient confidentiality.  In 2011 she became a GP Trainer and mentors GPs in their final year of training.

Dr. Beverley McDonald, MB ChB, DCH, MRCGP

Dr Willis (MA PhD MB Chir MRCP MRCGP) joined the practice in 2000 as a GP registrar and became a partner in 2002. Prior to this he spent several years at the Institute of Cancer Research in London conducting research into lymphomas ( a kind of blood cancer). His interests include the use of IT in general practice, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Dr Tim Spicer BA (Hons) MB BS (Lon) MRCGP DRCOG DCH DOccMed

Dr Tim Spicer (MB BS DCH DRCOG DFFP MRCGP) joined the practice in 2009. He entered medicine as a mature student having been a professional actor and theatre director. He has wide interests including child health, psychiatry and occupational medicine. He is Chairman of the local Commissioning group which works to improve services for over a hundred and fifty thousand local residents.

Dr Zohreen Ashraff MB BS DCH nMRCGP

Dr Ashraff (MB BS DCH MRCGP) joined the partnership in 2009 following completion of her GP training with the practice. Her interests include care of the elderly, Developing child health services, ENT and ophthalmology.

Associate Doctors

Dr Katy Willis (MB BS MRCGP DFFP) joined the practice in 2004. She has a special interest in life issues and how they affect health.

Dr Jens Foell (MD MRCGP DFFP Dipl.Med.Ac.) joined the practice in 2010. Before entering General Practice he specialised in Germany in Rehabilitation Medicine. His special interest is musculoskeletal medicine and its relation to chronic pain.

Dr Junaid Bajwa (MRCGP, MRCS (Eng), DFSRH, MBBS, BSc) finished his surgical training in 2007, before going on to complete his GP training in 2009, and has been working as an Associate GP at Richford Gate since. He has been fortunate to have worked in a variety of different posts, both in primary care, and secondary care, and is committed to improving the quality of healthcare delivered, and thereby improving the health outcomes for the local population. He is currently an RCGP Clinical Commissioning Champion, and is working towards completing his Masters in Healthcare Commissioning at the University of Birmingham.

Our nurses are trained to offer a range of service that include: : smears, child immunizations, travel vaccines, dressings, chronic disease management (eg diabetes, asthma), anticoagulation monitoring and lifestyle advice.

Mr. Renos Pittarides BA(Hons), DMS, MIHM, FHEA

Renos Pittarides has been a practice manager since 1990 and in 1998 was appointed Executive Partner. He has extensive experience in management within a general practice setting. Renos advises primary care organisations and individual practices about practice management issues including the PPPP Development Centre and London Wide LMCs. Renos is a non-stipendary minister in the Church of England.

Our reception team are here to direct you to appropriate services. This includes making appointments with our doctors, nurses and other members of the team here at Richford Gate. They also arrange transport, interpreting services, and can deal with repeat prescription requests that have been agreed with your doctor. When doctors have viewed your results they will often inform the receptionists who can pass on their comments. Please note that our staff are not medically trained and cannot interpret results and may, on some occasions, need to refer you to your doctor.
