You do not need a sick note if you are off work for less than 7 days. In these situations your employer should by law allow you to complete a self-certification form. However, for any length of time beyond 7 days it is important that you see one of the doctors straight away as we are unable to issue back dated certificates.

In the rare situation where an employer is being unreasonable and asking for a sick note for less this initial 7 day period, we are only able to provide you with a private sick note. The fee for this is listed on the fees page.
